AMETHYST
Anonymous asked: Can you give similar info on amethyst?
A variation of Quartz, ‘Amethyst’ derives from the Greek meaning “without drunkenness”, intended to keep a sober mind and to protect the wearer from poison ( this may refer to negative feelings such as anger or hatred. It is usually considered an all round healing stone, and a healer will generally wear a few pieces of Amethyst jewellery) and often dubbed the stone of spirituality due to the violet shade. A power stone, Amethyst has the ability to focus energy very well, and is helpful with meditation. There is an ancient Greek myth of Bacchus/Dionysius - the God of wine and intoxication - turning a young maiden into stone, and in remorse poured wine over her, thus creating Amethyst…
The color agent of amethyst is iron. The colors range from purple, violet to pale red-violet. So-called green amethyst is produced by heat treatment
Amethyst
Amethyst connects the physical plane with higher realm, making it a good choice when working with the Third Eye Chakra. Amethyst also provides a wonderful peaceful energy for meditations, and helps with developing intuition and psychic abilities. Amethyst opens and activates the Crown Chakra as well, allowing easier access to the divine. Amethyst enhances spiritual awareness and spiritual wisdom, promoting a higher state of consciousness. ANGELITE

Angelite is an opaque, blue and white crystal, sometimes containing flecks of red. It is formed from Celestite, that has been compressed over millions of years.
As its name suggests, Angelite is said to help attune the user with the angelic realm and to facilitate angelic contact. It is also said to heighten perception, enhance telepathic communication and to enable out-of-body journeys to take place, while still maintaining contact with everyday reality. Angelite helps you to speak the truth and to be more compassionate and accepting, especially of things that cannot be changed. It promotes feelings of peace and tranquillity.
In crystal healing Angelite can be placed on the Throat Chakra. It is thought to resonate with the throat, reducing inflammation and balancing the thyroid and the parathyroid. Angelite is believed to help reduce pain and can be used to help alleviate the pain of sunburn. Hold or place on the body as appropriate or place next to your bed. Please note Angelite is water-soluble and should not be cleansed in water. (via)
Also called anhydrite, angelite is quite a common sedimentary mineral thar forms massive layers of rock. It is created when gypsum loses water, which causes the rock layer to shrink and caverns to form. It also occurs as a result of evaporation of sea water or the weathering of pyrite. The best angelite comes from Peru and Mexico, but is also found in Germany.
It is often -mistakenly - thought that angelite takes its name from its angelic powdery blue colour, but it is in fact named after Angela, the partner of the person who discovered the stone.

AQUAMARINE
dulceconsuelo asked: Can you tell me about aquamarine?
Named after the Latin phrase “water of the sea”, Aquamarine is said to have life giving properties. Closely linked with the Ocean (originating from Mermaids’ treasure chests and traditionally worn by sailors), it soothes and cleanses, granting serenity and peace - ideal for meditation. The Romans used the aquamarine for diseases of the stomach, and believed it could cure liver and throat troubles. Again, like all gemstones there are numerous meanings for Aquamarine but these seem to be the most prevelant.
Aquamarines of the best quality are clear, transparent gems. Some gems can carry inclusions of long, hollow rods, a trademark of the beryl family. Aligned traces of foreign minerals, a rare feature, cause a cat’s eye effect or star effect (asterism) with six rays in a vivid sheen. Cat’s eye aquamarine and star aquamarine usually command premium prices. (source).
AZURITE

Azurite has been called the “Stone of Heaven” that aids in the “pursuit of the heavenly self”. Metaphysically, Azurite is a lovely Third Eye Chakra stone, awakening psychic abilities and helping the user to recognize intuition and spiritual guidance when it occurs. In old ages Azurite was used to produce a dark blue paint. In Ancient Egypt Azurite was considered a magic stone, that served to increase spiritual powers. Azurite is a gem that expands the limits of the conscious realm Native Americans used Azurite as a sacred stone for communication with Indian Spirit Guides. The Mayans are said to have used it for sacred, mystical communication via thought.
Azurite is useful in meditation to clear the mind, promote deep introspection and visualization, and allow clear recognition of intuitive messages that are received.
Azurite has a strong association with Copper which makes it a perfect addition to copper jewelry worn for arthritis or rheumatism.

BLOODSTONE
shittyme asked: Can you give similar info on bloodstone?
Bloodstone is an intense healing stone, used to align the centres of the body and aiding energy circulation and energy blocks. A hero’s stone, it instills courage into the wearer, calming emotions of fear and anger. It was once believed to overcome enemies, to open locked doors and break down blockages. It was carried by soldiers to avoid being wounded and to purify the blood. In history: Babylonian warriors carried bloodstone into battle with them to give them strength to overcome their enemies. The Egyptians used bloodstone in rituals to break many different kinds of bonds. The Greeks gave it the name heliotrope meaning sun’ and turning’ because they believed that if this stone were immersed in water, it would turn the sun red.
The most prominent legend in the origin of Bloodstone says that it was first formed when drops of Christ’s blood fell and stained some Jasper at the foot of the cross.
Bloodstone is dark-green variety of the silica mineral chalcedony that has nodules of bright-red jasper distributed throughout its mass. Polished sections therefore show red spots on a dark-green background, and from the resemblance of these to drops of blood it derives its name.
Its physical properties are those of quartz.

Charoite is considered to be the stone of transformation, grounding your spiritual self and assisting you with ”self-inflicted” lessons. Opening and amplifying the connection between your head and you heart, it accentuates tolerance, forgiveness and acceptance, it allows for the transforming of friendships and letting go of attachments. Charoite is often used to overcome fears (particularly effective in combating nightmares - if you suffer from this, place some Charoite under your pillow when you sleep), and can be very powerful if paired with Amethyst.
It is found to date in only one location: along the Chary River at Aldan in Russia. It formed from alteration of limestones by the close presences of an alkali-rich nephline syenite intrusion. The heat, pressure and more importantly, the infusion of unique chemicals into the rock are responsible for the transformations into new minerals such as charoite. Why charoite has not been found in other locations is not fully understood. But it is probably due to a combination of a chemically unique limestone reacting with a chemically unique intrusion and subjected to unique physical conditions. The colour of charoite is described as a stunning lavender, lilac, violet or purple. The white crystalline needles give charoite a very distinctive appearance and depth often forming a swirling pattern of interlocking crystals.

LABRADORITE

Labradorite is a rare feldspar named after the region of Canada where it was discovered, although it has since been found in Australia, Finland, Sicily, Norway and the Ukraine. It is noted for its stunning iridescence, caused by light bouncing off inclusions of magnetite. This unique effect is known as “labradoescence”.
In healing, its iridescence acts as a reflective shield to protect the aura of the wearer. For example, any relationship problem, especially one that you can feel draining your energy reserves, will be alleviated by wearing this stone. One common side effect of the healing process is that the other person involved will experience a change in your demeanour - they may comment, for example, that you have become less friendly of slightly more distant. The phase will pass, however, as the energy flow between you and the other person becomes more balanced.
Healing functions:
- Heightens our ability to focus on personal issues without letting external influences affect us.
- Helps us to allow for other people’s difficult emotions or moods.
- Encourages us to embrace new ideas and opportunities.
- Increases our ability to shift awareness outside the normal range.
To release any form of negative energy from the body, including environmental stress, place seven tumbled labradorite around the body: one at the head and one by each foot; and two evenly spaced on each side of the body. Finally, place a fluorite at the base of the throat/top of the sternum.

MOONSTONE
Anonymous asked: can you tell me about moonstones!?

Identicifaction and care.
- The characteristic lustre of moonstone can vary depending on structure. It can show opalescence, rainbow iridescence and schiller (twinkling).
- Where there are alternating layers of albite and orthoclase, a blue colour or a milky schiller can appear.
- Low grades of moonstone can be grey, brown, yellow or orange.
Spiritually, moonstone is said to bring good vibrations and protection to the wearer, it promotes inner growth and strength and balances/soothes emotion. Heavily linked to fertility and expressing a more ‘feminine’ nature. There are many interpretations of moonstone, for instance in the Middle Ages people believed that the cosmos were reflected in them.
Moonstone owes its name to the white, almost magical shimmer that resembles moonshine. Blue-whitish light glides over the surface when the stone is cut cabochon. Gemologists call this phenomena adularescence, which originates from the interior structure of the gemstone in scales or lamellas. Incoming rays of light are refracted inside the stone and scattered, creating a unique play of light, which makes Moonstone so special and coveted. Moonstone is the most well known potassium feldspar of the orthoclasespecies. A combination of orthoclase and albite arranged in layers cause the lovely sheen. Moonstone is fairly soft, 6-6.5 (Mohs scale) and sensitive to pressure. (source). The most important source of the moonstone is Sri Lanka.

RUBY

Ruby is a variety of the mineral corundum, coloured by chromium oxides. (The blue variety is sapphire, there are also yellow and clear corundums). High quality gem rubies of each colour and translucence are rare, hence their great value. Much more common are red and purple-blue opaque stones with a heavy metallic sheen. But even low quality rubies have a mouth watering beauty. Traditionally the gemstone of the Sun, ruby is believed to confer wealth and power, long life and health - acting like the Sun itself.

SODALITE
Hello there, I love your blog! Would you be kind enough to give me some information on the Sodalite stone? Thanks in advanced.
Anonymous

Sodalite is considered to be the stone of inner peace, and by keeping it in your pockets and around your home peace will flow around you (useful for those who suffer from anxiety/panic attacks, wearing this stone can bring a profound sense of clarity and calm). It bridges the gap between mind and heart, it enhances consiousness, communication and wisdom. This is a perfect stone for people who often use their heads to make life decisions as it removes doubt and releases the mind from itself.
Sodalite’s name is in reference to its high sodium content. A member of the feldspathoid group; chemically similar to the feldspars but forming in alkali-rich silica- poor melts. This mineral occurs as dodecahedral crystals often twinned. It can often form as masses or granular habits, usually it is found in igneous rocks as masses. It is a major constituent of lapis lazuli, and the two are easily confused. Colour ranges from a light to a dark blue, but it may also be white, colourless, yellow, green or red. The streak is colourless and the lustre is vitreous to greasy.
Thank you and you’re very much welcome!
